We've No Excuses

Whereas Romans 1 addresses pagans who lack the law, Romans 2 focuses on the religious who have the law. While the pagans who have suppressed the truth are under God's wrath and have been given over to depravity, the religious are also without excuse in that they know the law and still disobey it. They have condemned themselves because they have judged the morality of Romans 1 as true and just, bringing themselves under the same judgment. It doesn't matter that they are religious, and it doesn't matter that they have a lineage as the chosen people of God; the truth of the matter is in their souls where God alone can see. Therefore, we are without excuse.
