Prayer Begins With Praise
After asking Jesus to teach them to pray, the disciples are given The Lord's Prayer. Jesus says that this is the way you should pray. The Lord's prayer isn't a rote prayer that we pray verbatim as though it is some type of incantation. Rather, the elements within are the elements all prayers should include to some degree. And as we see, The Lord's Prayer begins with "Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name!" It begins with praise. When trying to determine how or what we should pray we should use the Acronym PRAY. Praise, Repent, Ask, and Yield. In doing so we recognize that Prayer begins with praise. Praise focuses our prayers on the glory of God. Praise sets the stage for the rest of the prayer. It tunes our heart for the way the rest of our prayer should go.
