Mistakenly Stolen

Though Jacob was given a promise that he would be the one to carry on the promise of the covenant, he consistently wrestled with God to bring it upon himself through his own strength. Perhaps his most famous story is where he takes his brother's birthright for a bowl of soup. We can look at Jacob as a swindler, but we've all made similar mistakes where we've tried to manipulate God's will according to our own. Regardless, our God is a God of redemption and his promises are never negated by our mistakes. Through Jacob's story we see our own.
