Wrestle With God

Jacob has wrestled against God for a large part of his life, but through the trials of Laban he has learned to trust God and wait on him for the promised blessing. Now he is waiting on the Lord in dependence and prayer. When the Lord shows up he holds on to him with everything he has. Why? Because he knows that he can't live according to his own plan and will and strength. If the Lord doesn't do the work for him and through him he is hopeless. He is desperate and dependent on God's presence in his life, and that makes all the difference. It is though this experience that Jacob becomes a completely changed man.
