Favor & Forgiveness

When Jacob prepares to encounter Esau again after his twenty year exile he comes across the camp of the Lord and dedicates himself to prayer. His dependent faith in God to save him grants him the favor of God. His plan to win Esau's favor through humility and an abundance of gifts eventually grants him the forgiveness of his brother. In the end we see that favor and forgiveness can only be granted to us by God through faith and repentance.
